Pick it up. Put it up. Be Awesome.

The title says it all. Seriously. Why should I even write anything else? When it’s all crumbled down around you, within you and through you what else is there to do?

Step 1. Pick it up.
Absofuckinglutely. Pick the pieces up, put them together and get ready for step 2. If you can’t even get past this step we’ve got a problem. Close your eyes, count to 10 and get ready to be baller again. Handle it man. Handle it. Life doesn’t rule you, you rule life. Don’t ever let it step in front of you, your goals or your wishes.

Step 2. Put it up.
Shut up and get it done. Enough of the chitter chatter, pitter patter of that bullshit you’re raining down. Either do it or get out of the fucking way. If you’re not going 100% then what are you doing? Where’s the other 10, 20, 30% going? Sitting on your ass not smiling, not giving a shit, not being focused on the goals you’ve set. Enough of that. Get up, get out, pick it up & put it up.

Step 3. Be Awesome.
After all this is the final goal right? You want to be awesome, happy, smiling, loving, etc. Then get there. You’re the only one in the way of you. Appreciate what you’ve got and what’s around you and OWN IT. Don’t want to own it? Want to float on through and not kick ass? Then get out of my way, my friends way and everyone else who is driven to get to the next level. If you’re not doing everything you can do be your BEST, be AWESOME then what the fuck is going on man?

Fin.
This post was created to make you think, inspire and be here for you to always look back on in case you need that kick in the pants from someone or something. Enjoy and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Get Mosec. No Really, Get it.

Do you use a CRM on a regular basis? Do a lot of travel and phone calls? Then you really need to be looking into Mosec. In a nutshell Mosec is a mobile secretary that allows you to stay on top of the things you need to be remembering after a call with a client. How does it work? First of all the guys at Mosec totally killed it with development of the app and have tied Salesforce and Batchbook. Secondly, after a call with a client MosecApp will prompt you to leave a voice note, which it will then transcribe and add to your CRM database automatically under the client you just spoke with. So when you go back to your desk, laptop, etc you’ll see your notes right in front of you. This is especially important for those people on the road that can’t exactly write something down at that very moment and that will forget it 30mins from the end of the call. You know that’s you. Come on now. It’s ok though! With Mosec you won’t ever have to miss an important note ever again. Currently the app runs on Android devices with iOS in the plans sometime down the road if all goes well. The best part? You can download it and try it for free! There are some paid plans if you’re a bit of a CRM power user but nothing that’s going to rip a giant hole in your wallet.

The team at Mosec is second to none. Seriously. A former child actor, a poker champ and a MMA fighter. Does it get any better than that? I’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with two of the guys for lunch and I’ve got to tell you that they are some of the most chill entrepreneurs I’ve ever had the chance to meet. Bernard and Austin are not only down to earth but totally tapped into what they’re trying to accomplish within their space. Though it took them awhile to figure out exactly what they wanted to do during their time at Betaspring once they found that golden nugget they ran with it. After lunch I got to have a tour of their office space which reminded me a fish tank to be totally honest. But hey, who cares where you are developing awesome stuff as long as it’s getting done right? These guys have a ton of ideas and are insanely driven to get a great product out to anyone who wants to use it so if you’re looking for a quality app that will help you with your CRM look no further than Mosec.

You can find Mosec here & here - be sure to tell the guys I sent you!

In the End of all Things

The past week has been an exciting one, an eye opening one, a tremendously sad one and a mind set changing one. I’ve never in my life gone through such a roller coaster of emotions. The highs were oh so high and the lows were knuckle dragging, skin tearing lows. And in the end, I’m still here. You’re still here. Life moves on. Truthfully if I were here or not life would still be trucking on for everyone else anyways. I was listening to Johnny Cash sing his version of Hurt originally by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails (it can be found on the Downward Spiral Album circa. 1994) and this phrase he says struck a massive chord with me. He talks about having it all, his empire of dirt. That got me thinking a bit.

In the end we’re 6 feet under and everything we had is widdled down to nothing. We could have had all the money in the world but in the end where did that get us? We’re still destined for that hole in the ground. No matter which way we slice or dice it that’s where we’re going, in the end. What we do up until that end is what matters. The legacy we leave, the memories people will hold onto, the verses people will write and sing, that’s how we’ll be remembered. Happiness for me, isn’t having the latest and greatest thing (although it is nice), it’s about the people I’m sharing my life with. I don’t have many friends. I’ll be the first to admit that. I have a whole lot of acquaintances and people that I interact with but at the very core of my life I only have a few close friends and that’s it. I like it this way. But how am I going to remembered when I go? If I don’t have a large circle of friends will memories of me just fade away and never see the light of day again? Call me selfish but it scares the hell out of me to be forgotten. So then I ask myself what am I doing today to ensure that I’m never forgotten? I woke up this morning with the will power to make a life change, turn 180 degrees and start checking off things on my list. I’ve already started and I have faith that one day one of the things I check off my list will be the reason I’m going to be remembered. Until then I’ll keep listing and I’ll keep checking things off.

+Fav: Facebook Timeline

After hearing about Facebook Timeline last week I was intrigued and immediately impressed by the overall design I saw in the demo. So naturally, loving all things shiny and sweet I wanted to figure out a away to start using this right away. Luckily there were some great resources and walk throughs posted soon after the presentation and I was soon off an running with Facebook Timeline. Want to use it now as well? Click here for instructions.

Once I had it up and running I took it for a spin and took a trip down memory lane. It reminded me of connections with people I hadn’t spoke with in a while, some sad times as well as some happy and funny times. It was amazing to see the extent of my existence on Facebook. It was exciting to see how I’ve changed, how my music and art tastes have changed as well. Same with vocabulary, relationships, photography, etc.

Needless to say I feel like Timeline is probably the best innovation to Facebook I’ve ever seen since the great resign back a few years ago. It’ll be fun to see what creative things people do with their “featured photo” area as well. It’ll also be interesting to see what doors people are willing to open into their current past lives.

Here’s to Facebook Time and hopefully everyone will be able to start using it soon enough.

Punch-in/Punch-Out-ers Need Not Apply

It work for some people right? They get a job and punch in at 9 and out at 5. That’s that. Same day in and out. There are some professions that’ll work for however with social media if you are one of those folks I’d say you might want to think about a new profession. I’m all for getting into Social Media and trying to make something work out of it. However, if you’re not willing to make it a 24/7/365 type of gig then you’re doing it wrong.

Social Media and the management of clients is an ongoing thing. It doesn’t stop just because you’re sleepy or are going out to dinner with friends. If you’re one of those folks that has a couple thousand followers on Twitter and is always on Facebook and is having dreams of raking in the money I’d caution you against dropping everything from your current, stable job and jumping into Social Media management. For starters, everyone and their mother and grandparents are calling themselves Social Media Experts. What are you going to do to distinguish yourself from the rest? The thing I found that my clients LOVE is the fact that I’m available all the time and I’m always immersed in the analytics and strategies and ready to shift gears if something isn’t working. I work fast and have been able to deliver positive results for clients. There are some people who will sign a client and then do the 9-5 thing for them. What about those other hours? What happens if a client gets a bad review on twitter, yelp, Facebook or another outlet during your “off hours” ? Do You jump into action or do you wait for the start of your day the next day? I’ve seen news and reviews spread like wildfire so for me, there is no waiting. You’ve got to get on that right away and handle it with your client and the consumer.

Ok so you’re not going to be able to stay up 24 hours a day. What tools should you be using to keep posting to Twitter feeds?

Hootsuite is a great product to use if you’re managing a few clients. I use it on a daily basis and it’s superb. The reports I’m able to create as well as the analytics I can check out right within the site is amazing. If you’re managing multiple clients I highly recommend you check out Hootsuite at hootsuite.com/.

Bufferapp is another superb tweet delay tool that allows me to make sure my clients are posting relevant content throughout the day. It takes me an hour or so in the mornings to fill their buffer feeds and then I’m worry free for the day and I can focus on other things. Such as conversation, responding to new followers, etc. One of the great things about Buffer is they have an affordable “pro” account and are super flexible if you need to expand beyond that. Joel and Leo are two of the most amazing and transparent founders I’ve ever met. They’ve got a vision and are rocking it day and night. Interested in learning more about Buffer App? Click here.

All in all social media is an all day, every day type of thing. If you’re not into diving into that pool then I’d suggest passing over this profession until that level of dedication is there for you.
